Cosy Cable Hat - Free Crochet Pattern

Spring may be right around the corner but there’s definitely still time for a fun new hat project first!

I've been really enjoying woven stitches and cables recently and I just couldn’t resist writing this pattern.

You know when there’s an idea in your head that you can’t stop thinking about so in the end you just indulge your creativity and run with it, even if there’s other things much higher up the to-do list. Well this project was one of those projects for me and I had so much fun with it!

This pattern is suitable for those with some experience and/or a determination to learn

The Cosy Cable Hat is also available as a kit

This pattern is provided in US terms

The hat is worked from the brim upwards in joined rounds. The cable sections are made up of Celtic weave stitch with decreases at the top of the hat

Finished size

Band size just over 19 inches and should fit most adults. (It fits me and my head has always been on the large side)

If you need to make the hat wider, you can add in a multiple of 4 rows to the band. Then add the number of multiples of 4 you added to the band into each hdc section around the hat each row i.e. you add 8 rows to the band and each 6hdc section becomes 8hdc

If you need to make the hat longer before starting the decrease rows then an even number of extra rows can be added after row 10 as an extra repeat of row 1 and 2 until you reach the desired height
